About Me
I am an urban transportation planner specializing in the design of transportation networks, spaces for people and multimodal complete streets. I carry a passion for innovation, experimentation and creative problem solving. I am a dynamic public speaker with experience training the current and next generation of professionals. My cross-cutting experience in private and public sectors provides insights into client needs and political realities for effective on the ground implementation.
Throughout my career, I have been dedicated to effectively communicating complex ideas and technical details to diverse audiences, bridging the gap between innovation and practical implementation. My experience spans both the private and public sectors, providing me with a unique perspective on context-sensitive innovation, business development and marketing.
I’ve led with innovation throughout my career. I contributed to and illustrated the NACTO Urban Bikeway Design Guide, which led the adoption of the current generation of urban bikeway treatments in the US. I named and popularized the Protected Intersection for Bicyclists concept in North America with my viral video hit, and I led the creation of the FHWA Small Town and Rural Design Guide, formalizing context-sensitive guidance to non-urban settings. My experience extends internationally, having worked on bikeway assessments in Brazil and contributed to design standards and urban mobility projects in cities across Canada.
